Peter Fox Smith has accomplished much. He won both best artist and best athlete in school, earned Master and
Doctor degrees from Harvard, taught at four colleges, serving two as Dean, and produced weekly radio programs
on opera and classical music for nearly thirty-five years. While teaching opera at Dartmouth College he also
coached the women's cross country running team to national prominence. An equestrian and sailor Peter plays
numerous musical instruments. He has made English versions of poems from five different languages but it
is as an opera authority and poet that he is most well known.
Peter Fox Smith has lectured on opera and has led music tours in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, produced and narrated weekly radio programs on opera
and classical music for thirty five years over the stations of Vermont Public Radio,
nearly 3000 programs to date, read his poetry on radio and TV, and given poetry readings at schools, clubs, libraries, and literary societies.
